About Me

Hello, I’m Jiaxiu (Melody) Zhang, a floral, tea, and Guqin artist and teacher living in Calgary, Canada. My love and passion is traditional Chinese culture.

I have been studying and practicing the art of Chinese floral arranging since August 2020. Currently, I’m being trained in Chinese floral arts under the guidance of renowned Taiwanese floral artist, Professor Lishu Li; for tea ceremony, under Professor Xu Guoxi, a master of Taiwanese cultural tea ceremonies; and for Guqin, Tan Peng, a scholar musician and Qigong master.

The Chinese floral arts program consists of 7 levels. Currently, I am at Post Graduate Year 4 and I am qualified to teach all levels up to Post Graduate Year 2:

  1. Junior
  2. Intermediate
  3. Senior
  4. Post Graduate Year 1
  5. Post Graduate Year 2
  6. Post Graduate Year 3
  7. Post Graduate Year 4

I am very interested in exploring and expanding the art, beauty and meaning of Chinese floral arranging, tea ceremony and Guqin. I want to share my passion of these Chinese arts. I want to spread the joy I have found with these and inspire others as much as it has inspired me. This is why I want to teach others about these Chinese arts so that they too will enjoy these as much as I do. In turn, my hope is that they spread this by teaching others. Currently, I am currently offering adult and children classes in Chinese floral arranging; tea ceremony; and guqin. Please view my Classes section for more information.

I also believe in giving back to the community by volunteering my floral arrangement services at Middle Path Buddhist Temple of Calgary and by collaborating with other passionate artists.
